The rooms themselves, the lobby, and the service (customer treatment) were impeccable. We liked the hotel overall very much. 2 negatives for us - 1. There was no vanity kit in the bathroom. We had to shop for toothbrushes, toothpaste, earbuds and things of that sort. 2. The pool was a bit outdated. The sunbeds were dirty and stained, and the picture behind the pool was a tad bit annoying. Other than that we are quite satisfied. Special thumbs up to Ahmed at our reception - very warm welcome!

Good room - Large and clean. But with a view of an empty dirt lot across the street. Best to keep the curtains closed. Check in was slow with a queue and took around 30 minutes as a result. Not ideal after a long flight to Dubai when you just want to check in and have a shower ASAP. 2 of the 4 lifts didn't work and were closed for maintenance resulting in occasional long lift waits, especially at peak breakfast times. Hotel buildings are aging a bit on the outside including pool surroundings and clearly there was no intention to repair dysfunctional or non working features. As I said earlier the room itself was good, with the exception of the shower water pressure, which was almost non existent. There are no bathroom amenities provided. The staff were generally good. But the deal-maker / deal-breaker was the food on offer. I was very disappointed with the breakfast. The quality of food on offer was well below what I was expecting from a Swissotel. No soft cheeses at all. Only two fruits were available, watermelon and honey dew melon. Neither was sweet or well selected. Both were clearly there to "tick the box". The weekend queue to get an omelette was close to 15 mins and was 20-30 people deep. If that was a premium hotel breakfast , then I am an Eskimo. While several aspects of the hotel were below expectations, the included breakfast stood out and really killed my entire opinion of the hotel, which just made the whole experience nothing at all what I would expect from a Swissotel. I would go further and say that it killed my previously high expectations and experience with that brand. There is just no way I can see Swissotel as a premium brand after that stay in Dubai at the Al Marooj.

We have asked for the room cleaning many times in our 3 Day stay. Hotel staff gives their lame excuses and the worst thing happened with us is… we have booked the hotel with 20% discount on Foods on hotel restaurants and cafe, we have the Lunch in cafe around 80AED after discount it comes 64AED. But the cafe staff refuses the discount at that time and we call the hotel reception for the same issue on same day (1st Day, Evening) then they told us “you have discount bill” no need to pay it extra. But…. After that we went to the reception on 2nd Day(Evening) just for checking the discount issue and show them our hotel reservation and they told the same we have applicable discounts. At the time of checkout they told us they don’t have any discount on food because we booked our hotel reservation by the 3rd Party app (MMT), this is what they told us on our checkout time, this is not about 16AED, this is about trust and our 1st 5star hotel experience which is worst. At the end of the conversation with manager they were trying to gives us complimentary coffee but not the money… then we asked for the money not any compensation. The customer staff told us to extend our stay in this hotel and they give us good discount… basically they were not supposed to give the money at the time. And after that we told to give the money that’s all. Within a minute she finally release our checkout amount with discount amount. This is the whole experience what we get in 5star hotel in Dubai. I may called this is the worst service I have ever experienced.

The hotel location is walking distance from the Dubai Mall and there is a Al Amaya about a 100 yards from the hotel for anything you may need. The staff is friendly and very helpful . Our room was lovely and we will certainly go back again. Sadly , the massage deal which I was SUPER keen for ended the Friday before our arrival. There was a lady called Supriya (from Utterkand) who my husband chatted too and she was helpful and responsive.
